Rugby Union Speech

                                                        Rugby Union
1. “Dan Carter dummy cuts Ma’a Nonu and he grubber kicks down the field Julian Savea chasing after it and finally pick up the ball with a funny looking facial and dives on the try line! some good technique.

2. Talofa, malo lelei, bula vinaka, Obviously I’ll be talking about rugby. Rugby was invented by a man named William Webb Ellis in 1823. One day William was playing a game of soccer and he decided to pick up the ball and run towards the goal and that’s how rugby was invented.  In New Zealand we have 5 super 15 rugby teams are Auckland Blues, Canterbury Crusaders, Otago Highlanders, Wellington Hurricanes and Waikato Chiefs. A few players that play for those five teams were chosen to play for the All blacks to compete and represent our country this year at the Rugby World Cup.

3.There are lot of rugby legend that made it through the All Blacks such as Jonah Lomu, he was an All Black legend who could run players over and score tries too easy and they needed a nickname for him they called him CONQUERING THE BEAST, next is Jerry Collins he was a strong man who throws people toward the ground and they called him the TERMINATOR he who just passed away a few months in a car crash R.I.P. When the super 15 season is over then  they move on the the ITM cup. There are 14 teams who participate in the ITM Cup and they are Counties Manukau, Taranaki, Canterbury, Waikato, Hawke's Bay Magpies, Tasman, Northland, Bay Of Plenty, Southland, Otago, North Harbour, Manawatu, Auckland, Wellington.

4. There are specific rules how to play rugby. In rugby there has to be 15 aside and some subs which means reserves. There has to be 2 rugby equipments such as mouthguard and rugby boots. To play rugby you need a referee plus two flag men. In rugby there are two sets of groups forwards and backs. The positions in the forwards are,  (hooker, loose-head, tight-head) second row ( second row, blindside flanker, open head flanker and number Eight.) Backs (half-back, first five eight, second five eight, centre, left wing, right wing and fullback.).

5. If the referee sees a high tackle, tacking without using arms, or fighting the referee gets to decide if they get a yellow or red card will be sent off the field in other words SIN BIN!  A try is only given 5 points and the conversion is 2 extra points. A penalty kick is a bonus of 3 points. To kick the ball you need something to support and hold the ball while you are getting ready to kick and it is called rugby tee. My favourite two rugby players is Rene Ranger because I enjoy watching him play and he plays very hard. He inspires me to play rugby and how rugby is a strong sport to play. AND THEY CALLED HIM THE BEAST! and my other favourite rugby player is Julian Savea because he also can bump players over and over again. He plays wing for the All Blacks and Super 15 Hurricanes.
Thank You!

Nearly At The Finish Line

Nearly At The Finish Line!

Stretching and focusing for the long run, get ready legs, steady….. GO!

Firstly, the bell rang and everyone rushed to their class lines and got ready to run. Year eights started off with a steady pace running up and down the hill. Some students dawdled or jogged towards Hinaki Street.

All of a sudden I saw students strolling during the second round. We jogged up Torino Street, past our school and back to the start.

At our cross country there were Rooms 12, 11, 10, 9, 7 and 6 who participated in our jog. Most students in Room 10 and 6 couldn't be bothered to run and they loathe running. When Mika and I were running past students strolling they were talking and weren't doing enough jogging.

We kept jogging till our third lap. When we got back to the start I had a little jog towards Mrs Golder and she was wondering ”Are you the last people?” and we replied, “No.” So Mika and I kept running till we got to the bottom of the hill and had a little rest to catch our breath. We reached Hinaki Street and Mika and I decided to sprint to the finish line, and we made it.

We at last reached the finish line.

Squares And Cubes!

At first, we needed to know our multiplication and multiples to get the answer for the squares and cubes. I thought they were going to be hard, but I listened carefully and now I know what to do.
Then we had to get into groups and we needed to build a 2D square and a 3D cube. My partners and I tried very hard to build a 3D 6 x 6 x 6 model. We started off slow but got the hang of it.
We were so fast that we finished on time.

Origami Objects

Firstly,  we had to make paper origami dinosaur and butterfly. After I finished my origami dinosaur I had to make something else to challenge myself and I made a green dress. Origami comes from Japan. My teacher Mrs Golder decided to put my dress with Mika's bow and cat together and now it looks like a project that Mika and I made.

Syndicate Assembly!

Screenshot 2015-09-08 at 14.16.37.pngThe first three days we had to organise our syndicate assembly. We needed a leader to organise people to host our assembly. We worked very hard to plan our lines and our own particular job to complete. It was our turn to host and we did extraordinarily well and sang cool songs. We had to display our daffodils sitting in a red vase and explain how we made them. WHAT A DAY!

Daffidals

First off we had to follow the instructions on how to make a paper origami daffodil. We made our daffodils to represent cancer and we also did it for a school competition. We followed the steps and made it look charming and made smaller ones to challenge ourselves. We all made our daffodils with yellow and orange paper to start off with. Later on I was searching on the internet for an easy way to make an origami vase for the daffodils and Sini followed the video instructions and made a big vase for the daffodils to sit in. Me and Mrs Golder were really impressed.
